The Bible says in Ps 127:3, “Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.”  In a time when everything familiar has been upended, we will highlight a school that has been a stable foundation for the next generation to depend on. Indeed, they have chosen to name this institution “God’s Heritage Christian Academy” to reflect their vision. The teachers and faculty at the House of Prayer Christian Church Day School keep this motto at the forefront of their minds as they strive to provide a place of instruction and inspiration.

Many school districts and teachers are grasping for the right way to educate their students in these changing times. Standards and guidelines have varied through the years, and ideas have come and gone.  “Virtual learning” has shown to be unpredictable at best and highly stressful, if not utterly impractical at worst. However, at House of Prayer Christian Church Day School, they have learned that nothing can substitute for wholesome, quality, face-to-face instruction through many years of experience. They strike a perfect balance between individual learning and group projects, homework and field trips, creative-thinking, challenges, and teambuilding exercises. At every stage, each student knows that there is a purpose behind their work and a due reward for their effort.

Let’s look at the day-to-day activities of this wonderful program. From a student’s first day of kindergarten until the day they graduate, they are given countless opportunities to grow and achieve their full potential. Beginning with the basics of letters and numbers, they are guided to writing and counting, reading and adding. Along the way, seeds of faith are being planted in their hearts. Memory verses are used to cement the alphabet and their young minds. Let me interject that these little scholars can probably out spell most adults when it comes to words like “Deuteronomy” and “Nebuchadnezzar!” of course, they continue to the well-known subjects of earth science, social studies, math, art, and physical education, but always the lessons are rooted in the foundation of “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” as found in Genesis 1:1 NIV.  As the students progress to middle school, they make friends that they will keep for the rest of their lives. They bond with teachers, mentors, pastors, and ministers who will guide them through the agonies of growing up. Hand-in-hand with their academic education, they are being brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. At the heart of it all is the ultimate textbook, the Bible. The boys and girls who attend House of Prayer Christian Church Day School are never left to try to navigate life on their own but are shown the blessing and wisdom of the Holy Word to answer every question and direct every decision. Each classroom begins and ends the school day with devotion, which is a time of prayer and worship, reading of Scripture’s, and even singing songs of praise to our great King!

Additionally, God’s Heritage Christian Academy offers much in the way of preparation for transitioning into adulthood. While most of us arrive at the end of high school, still not sure of the path our lives and careers will take, there are many doors of opportunity opened to these students. Having come to know each pupil over the course of their school years, the instructors at this exemplary facility can discern the strength and aptitudes in them. Some have a love of art and design, others for automotive repair. Some have shown interest in recording and broadcasting. Still, others show a propensity for office management. Whatever their unique leanings, the House of Prayer Christian Church Day School endeavors to support and aid the soon-to-be graduates.  On-the-job training is one option several students have taken advantage of, learning the schedule’s discipline and being on time. Many have also selected electives and prep classes to learn planning and budgeting. However, no one is pressured to make their ultimate decision quickly. Upon completion of their SATs, several seniors have opted to head to a college or seminary of their choice, knowing eventually, with prayer and faith, the Lord will show them their life’s calling.

After assessing this amazing center of learning with its staff of dedicated and loving teachers, we must conclude that the House of Prayer Christian Church Day School is unsurpassed, whether it be in curriculum quality, classroom tone, spiritual substance, or dedication. The young men and women who have had the privilege of attending this program are blessed above measure, and indeed many whose lives have been impacted can stand in witness of this fact. From alumni who serve their country in the military, have started their own business, become musicians, are pursuing higher education, or return to the classroom to give back as teachers themselves, there are numerous testimonies of what a great school this is, and we give the highest recommendation to all the wonderful Christians involved in this worthy cause.
